Mt Sturgeon in the Grampians national park dominates the skyline if you look north from Dunkeld and it provided the most wonderful backdrop for Rachel and Andrew’s wedding.
While I’ve been to the western district before this was my first time at this particular venue and the historic house was one of the best I’ve been to.
One thing that made this day work really well was holding the ceremony a little later in the day, this not only gave the groomsmen time for a quick round of golf, but also meant that the heat of the day had passed before their guests needed to attend the ceremony.
While most couples choose to have their ceremony on the well manicured lawns Rachel and Andrew however chose to keep things more relaxed and held their ceremony at a quiet spot down by the river surrounded by amazing fruit trees which really added to the intimate atmosphere of the day.
Once the ceremony was complete it was just a short walk to the old woolshed which is now an amazing dining space. It was there underneath the wonderful vaulted ceiling that everyone danced the night away.
While Dunkeld has a ton of great wedding venues, I think the Mt Sturgeon homestead should definitely be up on the list.
